1. Og Mandino in his book “The Greatest Salesman” said. Greet every day with love in your heart. That has got to be some of the best advice in the world. Get up every morning and realize that you are loved by God. If you are born again and saved then you are a child of God with more love than anyone could every imagine. Now love everyone. Let the love of God be shed abroad in your heart. Love those that love you. Love those that hate you. Love the fact that God gave you another day to live. Love the challenges that will cause you to grow. Love the needy and hurting. If we greet everyday with love in our hearts we will have a completely different attitude about everything.

  2. In everything give thanks. That is the Bible lesson. Live with a grateful heart. This is, in many ways, similar to greeting the day with love in our heart. God is good, all the time, God is good. So be thankful. You woke up next to the person you love this morning. Your children and your family are still here and healthy. You have food and clothes and if you know Jesus then this is enough to be content, to be happy.

  3. Set goals but as John Maxwell says do not set goals of what you will accomplish but rather set growth goals. What will you do today that will cause you to grow? What will you read or listen to that will motivate you to do greater things? John Maxwell says you should not go on to the next thing but you should grow to it. Do not stagnate. Do not get satisfied. Do not settle when God has so much more for you.

  4. Make changes. Change your habits. As James Clear says in “Atomic Habits” it is the little changes you make each day that affect your entire future. You must change something in your life today. We are a slave of our habits so get control of a habit and watch your life change totally.

  5. Step out of your comfort zone. Take a risk. Jump off the cliff. As Bruce Wilkinson says in the “Dream Giver” you will never see all that God has for you if you continue to live in the town of Familiar. You must break through your comfort zone and stretch yourself. The older you get the more you will want to draw up into your shell like a turtle but do not do that. The warmth of security will constrict you. It will tighten and strangle you and your future.

I am no expert on growth but I sure listen and read a lot. I want to know. I want my best years to still be in front of me. Don’t you. Go for it.
