Some days, it feels like life is one long trial. You spend your energy explaining yourself. Trying to keep your record clean. Hoping you come out looking okay. That gets old. It wears you down.
But God’s grace lets you rest. You don’t have to defend yourself anymore. God is not waiting with crossed arms to see if you’ll measure up. He’s already made up His mind about you.
“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”
Not perfect. Not impressive. Just be faithful right where you are.
Faithfulness isn’t always glamorous. Sometimes, it’s showing up when you’re tired. Sometimes, it’s doing the next right thing, even if no one else sees it. Jesus said,
“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much.”
It’s not about applause. It’s about trust. Do you wonder if what you do matters? It does. Do what’s in front of you. Do it with your whole heart. Then rest, knowing God sees it all.
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”
Here’s the good news. You don’t have to prove yourself to anyone, not even to yourself. Christ is your righteousness. The verdict on your life is settled. If you belong to Jesus, you are not on trial. Your Judge is now your Father. Your Advocate is Jesus Himself. The case is closed.
You will have days you wish you could do over. But hear this:
“If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins.”
Jesus stands in the gap for you. His work covers every failure. You can stop rehearsing your defense. You can put down your need to explain and rest.
Performance-based religion says you need to earn God’s approval. The Gospel says you already have it. You are accepted in the Beloved. God’s arms are open wide to you, always.
Let yourself rest. The pressure is off. You don’t have to keep defending yourself. Jesus already did that. Your job isn’t to shine for others. Just be faithful to what’s in front of you today. Don’t measure your worth by anyone’s applause. God delights in you.
Grace has the last word. You are His. You are loved. You are free.
Rest. The trial is over.
