“Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?” Romans 2:4

God's kindness is not just a gentle feeling or a soft word; it is a profound expression of love. Kindness is the most powerful force in the world, the mighty love that stoops down to lift us when we're at our lowest. For many, kindness sounds like letting things slide, but kindness took Jesus to the cross.

God's kindness isn't Him looking the other way when we sin or just ignoring what's wrong. His kindness paid the price for our sin. It's kindness that moved Him to offer what we could never earn or deserve.

"But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us…" Titus 3:4-5

The greatest act of kindness in history happened when Jesus took your place. He suffered for your sin, bore your shame, and opened the door for you to be forgiven and made new. The cross does not contradict God's kindness; it's the proof of it. His kindness sent Jesus to the cross, not because He wanted to ignore your sin, but because He wanted to deal with it forever so that you could come home.

Kindness is never a license for complacency or pretending everything is fine. The Bible says it plainly: "The goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance." His kindness doesn't make us shrug off sin or excuse brokenness; it draws us into genuine change. It's kindness that leads us to repentance, not threats, not guilt, nor shame. When you finally see God's kindness, you let go of running and hiding. You let Him do the deep work of healing and restoration. That’s what I discovered in my own life, and it’s what I share in Pain to Praise, a book for anyone ready to move from hurt to hope.

And there's more. God's kindness is for the person who's still outside, still bitter, still wrestling with grace. God's kindness welcomes the people we might have written off. Our Father's kindness is greater than our capacity to understand or forgive. He's not just waiting for you to get your act together; Our Father is running toward you with arms wide open, ready to cover you in mercy.

If you allow this truth to sink in, you'll discover that kindness not only transforms your relationship with God but also influences how you treat yourself and others. If the God who knows every secret about you can be kind, maybe you can offer that same grace to the people who have wounded you, and even to yourself.

The world is full of sharp edges and cutting words, but kindness creates a space for healing.

It's not passive but powerful. It's not weakness but holy strength. It's under control.

Who in your life most needs to experience kindness right now? Show them the kindness you've received?

In our final post, you'll explore how God's kindness and forgiveness extend beyond God's love and grace. It changes you from the inside out and shapes the way you live, love, and worship.
