If you’ve ever felt like your own thoughts are your worst enemy, you’re not alone. I know what it’s like to wake up in the middle of the night with a head full of “stinking thinking,” regret, guilt, old failures, what-ifs, and what-nows. And I know what it’s like to feel stuck there, wishing for just a little peace.

But here’s the truth I want to share with you: God’s mercy is bigger than any thought or fear you’ll ever face.

That’s why I started the podcast “Followed by Mercy.” Every episode is an honest conversation about how God meets us right in the middle of our mess, just like He did for David. Not after we get it all together. Not after we figure out how to pray harder or be better. But right there, in the cave, when our hearts are racing, and the shame is loud, God’s mercy finds us.

What We’re Talking About Right Now: Victory Over Stinking Thinking

David wasn’t just a hero. He was a man in desperate need of help, discouraged, hunted, and sometimes hopeless. Yet, even in his darkest moments, the Lord gave him victory. Not always a victory that changed his circumstances, but a victory that changed his mind and heart. David went from “the Lord is my shepherd” to “I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Even if the worst happened, he knew God would take care of him.

What’s the secret? It’s not about ignoring the pain or pretending it’s all fine. It’s about learning to let God renew your mind, meditating on His truth, asking the Holy Spirit to teach you, and speaking the promises of God to yourself until your heart catches up. This is real, practical, day-to-day faith. It’s not hype, and it’s not “name it, claim it.” It’s Jesus, Shepherd, restorer, and lifter of your head, meeting you in the middle of your storm.

Are You Letting “Stinking Thinking” Hold You Back?

Sometimes, we don’t even realize how much our thinking shapes our lives. Are you letting shame, regret, or fear write the headlines in your mind? Or will you let God speak a better word over you? David’s victory wasn’t about his ability to fix things. It was about learning to bring every thought captive to God’s truth, again and again, until peace took root and grew.

In every episode, we dig into how to do this—not just with theory, but with honest stories, real questions, and a lot of grace for the days you get it wrong because I do, too.

Mercy That Chases You Down

Perhaps you feel like you’ve failed too often or strayed too far. I get it. David did, too. But the Shepherd never stopped coming after him. Goodness and mercy chased him all his life, even when he was running away. That’s what God wants for you—not a life free from trouble, but a life anchored in the truth that you are never alone and never unloved.

So, if you’re tired of trying to clean yourself up, tired of getting beaten up by your thoughts, or just hungry for hope, I’d love for you to listen in. “Followed by Mercy” is for anyone who needs to be reminded that God’s love doesn’t give out when you do.
